The Kitselas Band Council
welcomes Constable Gerry Brown. Constable Brown will be
in the Gitaus Fire Hall every Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00
p.m. for those who would like to stop by and say hello
or talk to Constable Brown about any concerns.
The R.C.M.P. have advised Council that
if there are known drug dealers in any Kitselas Community,
Kitselas Band Council should draft a BCR to have the
drug dealer removed from the community.
Families in the Kitselas Community are
very concerned to hear that these drug dealers are in
the Community. Kitselas Band Council will have no choice
but to consider legal action to protect the community
and young children that are exposed to illegal narcotics.
If you suspect someone dealing in illegal
narcotics,
please contact Constable Gerry Brown at 615-9316

Important Notice
The Kitselas membership, elected Council and the staff
have serious concerns with regards to having people
identified by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as drug
dealers, living within the community. Such people see
nothing wrong in selling (trafficking) in illegal narcotics
or supplying alcohol to minors in our community. As
you can understand this cannot be tolerated.
After consulting with the local Royal Canadian Mounted
Police it was recommended that a Band Council Resolution
be drafted by Kitselas legal counsel. Pursuant to the
provisions of the Indian Act the Kitselas Band Council
has the authority to prohibit persons who are not Kitselas
members from entering onto or residing upon Kitselas
reserve if they knowingly participate in illegal activity.
Council did not take this matter lightly and it was
decided that Council had no choice but to have an individual
removed from the Kitselas reserve lands for the protection
of our community members, and in particular our youth..
If there are known drug dealers in the community both
the Kitselas Band Council and the housing committee
will do whatever is necessary to have such a person
or persons removed from the Kitselas reserves for the
safety of the community.
This type of behaviour will not be tolerated or condoned
by the membership.
The people of Kitselas will not sit idly by and allow
illegal narcotics to be sold to the youth and other
members of Kitselas.
If you have any questions regarding this matter please
don't hesitate to contact any one of the Council members
or leave a message at the office 635-5084 ext.221. The
staff will make sure your questions or concerns are
passed onto the Council or, if felt necessary, the local
Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
