On March 5, 2008 the Kitselas Canyon National
Historic Site was presented with the "Cultrual Authenticity
Award" from Aboriginal Tourism British Columbia.
We received this award after being nominated by Naomi
Gourlay from Kermodei Tourism.
For this nomination we to extend to Naomi our sincerest
gratitude and appreciation. The vision for this cultural,
tourism development is two-fold.
First, it will ba a contributor to the
economic development of the Gitselasu, as well as the
Northern region.
Secondly, it will be a mechanism for cultural
development within the community.
In reaching this vision, we believe it
can only be acheived by working in partnership with other
interested organizations, and by adhering to our cultural
protocol. Therefore, it gave me
great pleasure to accept this award on behalf of the site,
but most importantly on behalf of the Gitselasu people
because it is about them and about the land.
