The resource management of the Kitselas First Nation is closely related to
the economic development of the Kitselas Band. Some of the major achievements
of the Kitselas Band in the past ten years includes house construction at Kulspai
and Gitaus, and the building of a new band office, community hall and carving
shed. The band operated commercial and scientific fishery is another achievement.
All of these projects have generated local employment.
The Kitselas Band has cooperated with the Canadian Museum of Civilization and
the Royal British Columbia Museum to identify and salvage important cultural sites
in Kitselas Canyon. The federal government has declared Kitselas Canyon a National
Historic Site and the band has proposed to develop a cultural centre in the area.
